Objects
In the period from about 1988 to 2002 I focused on painting and later on shaping three-dimensional objects with different materials. Initially, I worked exclusively with wood, but later I also started working with metal, glass and fur. I collected the fur by asking students about old fur coats that were stored in the attic. In addition, I collected glass plates, straw and other objets trouvés.
In terms of content, my work in this period was aimed at searching for a dialogue or confrontation between the tactile, erotic and primitive on the one hand, and the cognitive, tight and rational on the other. This contrast was reflected in the use of prime numbers, which determined a rigid division of colour areas (articulations) and the placement of the fur. Sometimes the objects turned into ritual incantations, which contain references to the culture of the Papuans in New Guinea, where I lived as a child.
This period reflects an in-depth exploration of both the material and cultural dimensions of creation, focusing on the tension between different spheres and influences. The work from this time is a complex interplay of sensuousness and abstraction, in which personal memories and universal themes come together.
